In one year I came out to my best friend, my ex-fiance, and her best friend. Maybe I am lucky, but the experiences were great. Their reaction ranged from supportive to "that's wonderful!" Especially my ex-fiance. She was excited about my news. So it really depends on who you are dealing with. I guess in your heart you know who you should tell and who you can't tell. I told my best friend because we are best friends...and it's a good experience. I told my ex-fiance and her friend because I knew they were very acceptable of gays. It turns out I am right.
